Caroline Matthews personifies creative energy. In the early days of Dos Carolinas, Caroline did most of the work herself, from designing unique guayaberas to sewing pristine pin-tucks.

Standing firm in the center of Pearl Park at 35-ft tall is the holiday Fraser Fir.
Fraser Firs are native to cooler climates and are often found on private property in Michigan. Known for their strong branches, rich green needles, and classic Christmas tree shape, they’re a favorite for holiday displays. This particular tree was carefully procured by Sandones’s Christmas Tree Farm, ensuring it would be enjoyed by the entire community at Pearl.
At 35 feet, this Fraser Fir is estimated to be around 40 years old. These trees grow steadily—up to 12 inches per year—which means this one has been reaching toward the sky for decades before becoming part of our holiday tradition.

This tree isn’t just a decoration—it’s a reminder of patience, growth, and tradition. From its roots in Michigan soil to its new home 1,200+ miles away at Pearl, it carries with it a story of resilience and beauty.
So, when you stand before this magnificent Fraser Fir, take a moment to appreciate not just its size, but the decades of growth and care that brought it here.
See Pearl's iconic holiday tree come to life with our Tree Lighting Ceremony happening on Friday, November 28, from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Pearl Park! From free photos with Santa and storytime with Mrs. Claus to roaming performers, stilt walkers, carolers, and a high-energy DJ set, this is a holiday celebration you won’t want to miss. This event is free and open to the public.
